Homework
At St Matthew's we see homework as a valuable element of learning. It enables skills to be practised and reinforced and can provide the opportunity to develop key skills for independent learning. All pupils are expected to do some homework. The amount will increase as pupils progress through the school. The staff believe that a close partnership between home and school is crucial for homework to be successful.
Reading is a very important part of homework and the children should read regularly at home. This should also include talking about the book they have read to help them with comprehension skills.
The children should also learn their spellings and practise them regularly.
All the children should know their times tables by the end of Year 4. Please practise these regularly with your child at home.
Further details about homework for particular year groups can be found on the Termly Curriculum Letters.
